Extended financial support ‘welcomed’ but is unknown whether it’s ‘enough’

NAFDA Foodservice Member, St George Foodservice, speaks to Sky News Australia about the extended financial payments announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

Increased financial support for workers in NSW will be available this week as part of the expanded national COVID-19 Disaster Payment. This new level of payment takes into account the significant impact that the Delta strain is having on communities, businesses and workers.

Managing Director/Owner, Nick Haros, voiced that the increased support is welcomed but it is unknown whether it will be enough or make any difference with a decrease in revenue and payroll due to a reduction in staff.

Nick explained that he has expected this year to be harder with just trying to survive and stay afloat, attempting to retain staff and look after his customers, finance, and his business.

The new national payment rate will commence for payments processed week commencing 2 August and will be automatically updated for those already in the Services Australia system.

More information about the COVID-19 Disaster Payment can be found on the Services Australia website.
